A bunch of new graduated pilots were talking about how many pilots every aircraft need’s when entering the service
And some of them said for every aircraft entering the service the company need
Between 15 to 20 pilots
Is that true?????:*
In my humble opinion I think this number is exaggerated :=

think 5-6 crews per a/c is the norm for airline standards.....so 10-12 pilots.....but then ......wadefac :confused:

My company has 107 a/c and 2200+ pilots. Yet, almost everyone is on overtime. A lot of the scheduled flights are not manned until a few hours before departure, relying on guys who are willing to work on a G-day.

5-6 crews for shorthaul. Long haul can need more as some flights have heavy crews (more than 2 pilots). I think it's about 8 crews (16 pilots) per a/c at Emirates.

15-20 pilots/aircraft is about right for longhaul operations. it tends to be a bit lower 10-12 or so for shorthaul. Some airlines try and get away with less but that is hard to manage longterm.
