Anybody know any disused airstrips or land that i can use to test out my Superbike go kart? Preferably in Lancashire and am willing to pay, either in £ or free goes on the go kart! it needs to be flat tarmac and quite big as the bike engine is capable of 180mph+

Airstrips tend to be grass which I guess isn't what you want! What about the now disused(?) airfield at Salmesbury east of Preston?

Sounds awesome and scary...maybe you'll see something here...

But do bear in mind that disused runway surfaces deteriorate, and sometimes aren`t quite as smooth as they look.

Maybe check out the BBC's Top Gear Website for links to "more suitable" locations.

Can anyone confirm which runways on the above website are tarmac? as its hard to see from the pictures!

Have got intouch with RAF Woodvale and awaiting an answer from them :ok:

Salmesbury is still used by a gliding club and also by a VGS

Your chances of using one of the runways in Lancs is quite slim. The RAF and BAe are reluctant to let you onto their airfields due to insurance and potential FOD risks.

Your best bet would be to try somewhere like Elvington in Yorks or Bruntingthorpe, Leics. Quite far away but more suited to what you have in mind.
