Got the nod for DESO, is there any prep I should be doing before the training starts in Australia? Thanks in advance.

You may want to strengthen your right arm muscles by frequently lifting a full bottle of Labatts in your right hand and repeatedly draining the contents.

That should take care of ADL.

Hong Kong is a different matter entirely, involving bending over and lubrica...oh, forget it, just another bitter expat speaking.

that was really helpful, predictable but thanks

Whilst in ADL you should spend your time wisely. I suggest looking for a job with J* or VB.

What more did you expect?

If you honestly thought you'd get any more than the usual PPrune cr@p why did you bother?

Don't you know anyone in HKG who you could speak to and get the real deal?

....if you don't come here, then we'll run out of new guys, and then they'll have to pay us more and make us work less.

So, mr. Glacier1900, I want you to stay put on your present ****ty "job" which comes nowhere near our new "C" scale and keep working your ass off without any travel benefits or insurance coverage or medical benfits and no real future career because your current "airline"'s flying is being subcontracted to someone who's cheaper. And I want you to tell cathay recruitment that you "CAN-NOT take this job" because you (and not me) should be protecting our current CoS. I'm not gonna risk my career with cathay, but I want you to sacrifice yours before it even starts.

So .. get on it. Fight our fight for us. And when you call rectruitment and turn down the job offer, tell them it's because you're standing up for our CoS. :ok:

And remember, JizzMonkey is only thinking about your best.

Yes, Mr M, well said.

However, I put it to you that there is, in fact, very little that Jizz has said that that can be disagreed with.

All he has stated (except the bit about 2ks vis) is actually TRUE, whether or not you like it.

It is true but you are all still here. If you don’t like it quit and stop whining about it.

We have many DEFO’s for base positions and as many DESO’s for CX positions. We are providing these candidates with career opportunities and if you don’t like it, leave. Give these pilots a career at flying shiny new jets.

Their positions in their home country may not be as good as some of you spoiled brats have it in Hong Kong, so give them a career. Young pilots flying light twins would be very happy as DESO’s flying new shiny jets in Hong Kong.

To My Bonus.

and to think all glacier1900 wanted was information on the prep for adl... sometime me thinks the bitter pilots of cx will try anyting and hack every post to moan a bit!!

Glacier1900 must be from West Coast Canada..CMA? So dont think looking for a job at VB would help. Westjet would be better option.

Just relax put up your feet, enjoy your time in ADL before the mad rush when you are back here. Food is a hit and miss thing but you'll get by for 4 weeks.

Bring some extra AUD with you...$400 isn't enough for all the beers...and reflect back on the good times you had in CMA...CX is a whole new ball game with new sets of rules.....

Take some time traveling when you get the time off....the wineries is a good place to start.

For those of you that care, "The Management" is a 777 Captain. He will deny this in order to protect his bonus!

Cathay Pacific Airways' pilots corps consists of at least 80% fools.
Fools who just do not know any better.
May you all get what you deserve.

Obviously, G1900 is desperate and it took him two tries to get the job. Which means he's willing and able to assume the position and take it like a man. Just give him 6 months and he'll be banging his dome piece against the wall. :ugh::ugh::ugh: waaahhhhhhh!!!

I have been accused of many things but a lowly pilot?

In Management, we do protect our bonus, at your expense.

Wow. Well I understand everyone complains about every job (esp. pilots) but this stuff is too much. Thanks those that actually answered the simple question.
Thanks quadspeed for the balanced person view. By the way BigPimpin, not that it matters, I only interviewed once.
It seems to me that people have a really messed up view as to what else is out there (incl. WJ.) There are so many jobs now, why are you guys there? Flying is flying.
I'm going to go do something with my life now, I suggest the same.

Hey CMA,

You are taking this forum way too seriously. Use it as a tool to extract some basic information about your future position and don't expect any red carpet treatment while you are at it. This is not CMA!! There are no cute, feminine, captains here. Be a big boy, pack your bags for ADL and join CX with an open mind but don't expect anyone to care about you once you get here. You will get all the information you need from the guys in classes ahead of you in ADL. After you "graduate" from ADL, they will fill you in on all you need to know once you arrive in HKG. Don't sweat it my friend. Welcome to Cathay Pacific!!
