Returned from Sydeny yesterday.
I was already seated on a VB flight around 1930 Thursday night when we were told all further VB flights that night were canceled.
In my case, no problems, just unloaded and went home, booked Friday's 0600 flight no problems, no charges. Taxi and hotel vouchers for those that needed them, no fuss at all.
Convenient that I was at home, since I got an emergency call from the Police after a relative slipped and fell late that night.
Friday morning, excellent service, Sydney WX still rotten, looked like about 500ft ceiling(?) and vis two miles(?) after landing.
Yesterdays return flight the same, excellent uneventful service in clean aircraft with friendly staff. Asking for "an aisle and a window" results in an empty seat in the middle if they can do it for you as well.
Well done VB. Leave the bogans to jetstar.

Agree, nice to get a positive post regarding commercial aviation in this country.

Hey, I agree with the Fish. Have travelled on VB, TightStar and Tiger last month and VB by far was the best.
Goes to show that low cost doesn't not necessarily mean you have to have poor service. TightStar (http://www.jetstar.com)can learn a few things from VB; for starters, no way am I driving down to Avalon just to save a few bucks. Geesh, even Tiger which I flew from S'pore to Darwin to Melbourne early last month are better than TighyStar. :rolleyes:
BTW, I just love walking down the back stairs and taking a whiff of the Jet A1 fumes .. smells like what an airport should smell like. :D

Pretty simple stuff really. Treat your customers right and they will keep coming back.
VB hurry up and go 2 classes, give us some real choice and drive that QF mob into the ground.:D

Agreed! :ok: It is most heartening to read a positive post of someone's experience with one of the larger carriers for a change.
I've only flown with VB a few times and found it quite pleasant. Jetstar just does'nt appeal to me (What on earth were jetstar's advertising dept. thinking when they had Magda Szubanski (sp?) do the first lot of ads????:confused:) and GoCat.... sorry, Tiger, is still an unknown quantity for me.
Leave the bogans to jetstar.

I've flown with Virgin all over Australia since Ansett were still around, and have been impressed with the total overall package every single time. Check-in has been efficient, boarding efficient, - my record time from checkin to seated on board is about five minutes. (Im still not sure how that happened, because I was well over 100 in check-in sequence, but still managed to be in the first half a dozen people on board).
Virgin's safety record IS second-to-none (sorry, Rain Man), and the crew have consistently displayed a balanced combination of professionalism and light-heartedness.

Not only that, the inflight entertainment system worked, although I was glued to the speed and altitude numbers from TOD into YMML watching this guy very slowly bring the speed back over about ten minutes as he descended, there seemed to be no "wasted motion" (or wasted fuel) if you know what I mean.
Down went flaps and gear, very little engine spool up, and he's sitting on about 142 knots all the way down final - by the seatback GPS anyway. I wish I could do it that elegantly, no drastic throttle changes at all. Just neat.

Yeah but after you've flown with autothrottle raw flying becomes an art again don't forget!

The speed slowly reducing comes from your TAS reducing the lower you go :D

To be fair Sunfish, just because someone has a low level of personal hygiene and/or education, doesnt mean they should have to lower their already mediocre standards ...
