Lan Chile cargo traffic fell 21.5 pct in December. .MIAMI, Jan 21 (Reuters) - Lan Chile cargo traffic fell in December by 21.5 percent from the level of December 2000, the South American air carrier said in its monthly traffic report. . ."Traffic has declined as demand has fallen continuously on southbound routes due to economic weakness in Brazil, Argentina and Chile," Lan Chile said. . .Its cargo capacity was cut by 12.9 percent in December, compared to the level of December 2000, Lan Chile said, and its cargo load factor for the month, or percentage of available capacity filled, dropped to 68 percent, a decline of 7.5 percentage points.

The Dc-8-71 was sent back to owner. The one ABSA has now is a -61 which has been doing the VCP/MAO/VCP route carrying Central Bank money. The 767 hasn´t stoped one day since Jan 18th when it arrived from SCL. I have only been able to spend couple of days at home in Rio since then. As for the owner of the company, ABSA belongs to a holding group named Coeto brothers who bought LAN Chile out of Chileans govt. Actually the group now is called LAN GROUP (Latin AMerican Network) and has its pax and cgo branches. On the cargo side stands LAN Cargo, MAS Air from México, Florida West in Miami and ABSA in Viracopos. All flying new B767-300F. Plans for ABSA´s near future (prob MAy or June) is a another DC8-71F and B767-300F. See u guys at the Summerfield Suites.

Saw a Florida West B-767 on the ramp in BOG the other day. Did you say it is a brand new -300?

Flown that call sign many times, but then they had some tired 707s.

Ah the Royal Palm Plaza, one of the first trip after upgrade I bought my crew round after round after round in that place and they kept it open way past midnight just for us.. .Hangover Gigantus next morning. . .What do ya call those drinks that sort of look like Margaritas, but some Brazilian speciality with sugar added? <img src="eek.gif" border="0">

Caipirinha (sp?). You can also have caipiroska (substitute rum for vodka). It was nice sitting by the pool drinking them.

Aye good old days hauling freight.. .Present employer ain't got no freighters and no non-sked operation.. .Everything is clean, on time and almost no deferred items.. .No more Jeddah, Luxenbourg, Campinas, etc.

Perhaps my A scale and A and B fund will make up for the fun I used to have... <img src="wink.gif" border="0">

Towerdog the oldest 767-300F in operation nowadays is 5 years old as Boeing started delivering in 1997. I think there are around 38 flying worldwide: 1 with Asiana, 3 with LAN, 1 with ABSA, 1 with MAS AIR, 1 with Florida West and the rest with UPS. Ours was delivered to LAN in Dec 2000. Cargo Rat is right about the caipirinha/caipiroska. The first is made out of sugarcane spirit and the second with vodka. There is a third one, caipirissima made with rum.

They ran out of combinations for PT and PP and now all new registrations are PR...ours is PR-ABB
