Can anyone tell me what it's like to work for Air NZ? Good, bad or otherwise.

Cheers! :ok:

External image is of a company that has made big changes in culture and working practises - and that has turned around in performance.
Trying to portray itself as friendly and kiwi.
Internal reality is quite different.
A lot of good people.
But also a culture of quite vicious and underhanded bullying that extends right throughout the company to the very top.
Wouldn't give you two cents for the current CEO.
T&C's for pilots... not too bad realistically; many may disagree.

Thanks Tartare

Sounds like par for the course then as far as airlines go.

Yeah... true.
The surprising thing is that NZ seems quite friendly at first when you get there.
But after a while you start to see the true nature of the place... and when you do, boy oh boy... watch your back!!!
A lot of very mediocre people who've been there for many years, probably would struggle getting a job elsewhere, think they own the place and have nothing better to do than backstab others.
Having said that... also a few real gems.
Good luck.

I have a several friends flying for Air NZ, both domestic and long haul, and everyone of them talk very highly of the company and their fellow pilots. I guess it is just like most any airline...both happy and disgruntled pilots. At least not everyone is miserable.

Are any of you chaps able to disclose what the narrowbody (ie Zeal & 737) rosters are like? Overnights? Hours per month? Days per month etc? Lifestyle? I understand the Zeal guys do out 'n' backs, but do these include ADL and CNS? So am I right to assume they wouldn't do more than 3-4 flights per week due to duty time limitations? Lastly, how much better off financially would one be in long-haul vs short-haul? Lifestyle vs Remuneration?

Cheers to anyone with the info.

Hmm, you will have a few years sitting in the right seat of a 737 or the back of a widebody before a zeal job will become availible:}

i'd also be very interested if someone would care to share what short haul rosters are like. Also I don't understand why (if you wanted to go onto the 320s) why you'd have to start on the 735/4? would this still apply if you've got a fair bit of experience on the bus.

The Union - Many of the current Zeal Pilots( Ex Freedom) will also lose their seats on the A320 due to the cessation of Freedom and the Air NZ seniority system.
