Hello Chaps.
I am a regular SLF and soon to be pilot if all goes well...
But anyway..

I am most likely going to be flying with XL in June (as SLF) and as it will be my first time with the company I have been doing a bit of research...

And lot of the views coming back are that they are unreliable and the flights always seem to go tech?

Can I put this down to the fact people only write reviews when they have something bad to say or is this quite a common problem?

I would appreciate your thoughts..... thank you.

The last couple of years have been a bit of a challenge but things are improving. Most of the older less reliable aircraft have left the fleet (747-300s, 757s and some of the 767s) so the shorthaul fleet for Summer 2008 will be comprised mainly of new 737-800 and -900s, hopefully with improved punctuality. Have a good flight!

Another question chaps..

I will be on a 4hr05 flight with XL..
Now.. I have more experience of LH where drinks / meals are provided..

So what i would like to know.. is as this XL flight seems to be classes as SH... would drinks / maybe a meal be provided to us... or will it be a case of buying?

Also is their any entertainment on board? (other than the female cabin crew...)

As it's a V flight there will be drinks/food but you'll have to pay for them. The 737s have IFE which is the 'communal' type ie a few screens along the length of the cabin. I believe when XL's own A330s arrive they will have seatback IFE.

Cheers

I have flown Excel four times.
On the first occasion the flight landed only twenty minutes later than scheduled.
On the second occasion, no explanation was given for a two hour delay but it was obvious when the crew arrived that they had been called in on standby.
The next two flights were seriously delayed due to aircraft going tech (on one occasion we were then flown to a different part of Greece and transferred by ferry - arriving ten hours later than scheduled)
I have not flown with XL since but would welcome feedback from others who have.

Flew with them to Fuertaventura in November. Dead on time departure, arrived ahead of schedule, hilarious and very effective pre-take off briefing by Captain. Excellent cabin crew, return flight dead on time, arrived on time, half hour delay with baggage door not opening properly. Have flown many airlines, and would be perfectly happy to use them again.
