Crop dusting looks like a great way to make living? Can anyone share any experiences or advice. I'm contemplating this as a career.

Thanks.

You may have already looked there, but the Ag guys got split off for some reason into a forum with bizjets - look under 'Non-Airline Forums' and you'll find the place.
Lowlevl devl and others may be able to help.

The Australian Ag. industry is a boom or bust industry and at the moment it is bust. Very little work due to lack of water allocations. However when it is 'boom' again there will be a pilot shortage (I think) as alot have left the industry as it has been 'bust' for awhile now.
It can be alot of fun but it does become 'just a job' after awhile, especially when the neighbouring farm rings up complaining about the noise or thinks you have killed their crop, (this happens alot more than you would like).
In saying that, it is one of the best 'stick & rudder' jobs around and it pays pretty well too..... when you are working......
Good luck if you decide to do it, just be prepared to go from eating T bone steak everynight to eating 2 minute noodles..... based all on the weather...

Plus factor in at least a year of mixing/loading in the industry before you start flying, dont be afraid, this is considered an apprenticeship and will make you a better pilot in the end.:ok:
