Just starting my ATPL(A) with a view to leaving the services in two years time. At the present time I have 1200 hrs rotary (climbing at 500 hrs a year) and a PPL(A) with 200hrs on it(climbing at about 50 hrs a year). Everyone in the military overlooks freight flying and head straight for "Air-tours" or the like. Any advice and or contacts on jobs/routes or opportunities? Thanks.

FCL

500 hrs a year!! things have looked up since my days.

Went the police helo/freight route to a proper airline myself.

Freighters fly at night for the most part in older aircraft. I found the F27 a great start to fixed wing ops, but could not adjust to nocturnal life. A year and I was utterly bolloxed.

But, in these trying times, freight always seems to grow regardless of the vagaries of the airlines.

You pays yer money...... Good luck
