Anorak question from a SW London resident:
Around 23:30 local most nights a large jet transits London west-to-east, right over LHR at probably c.25k. Nothing strange about that, you may say, but the noise is unusual: not the normal large fans but more a multiple Spey, JT3D, Conway-type of noise. Unfortunately on clear nights I've not been in time with the bins to make a clear sighting.
Anyone any ideas? Perhaps a regular RAF VC10 run to the ME out of Brize? KC135/AWACS? Do Nimrods do that sort of regular run perhaps?
