I have been reading about Skyairworld with their new E jets and the joint venture with Lion air and was wondering. Does anyone know if they do their own maintenance? Do they have their own hangar?

No maintenance and no hangar but it gets done by contractors otherwise CASA would not let them play

SAW have their own engineers but use a third party hangar. I believe they are looking to build/buy their own presumably in Brisbane.

SAW management arrived in Honiara on Wed am (on the delayed IE/NF -300). They had meetings with Government officials yesterday & offered to train engineering staff to perform extensive checks on their proposed ERJ fleet.
Charlton has also offered to fly the Solomons domestic operation and drop all other claims relating to outstanding ERJ170 fees. However, it was reveiled that the "outstanding claim" is not valid (IE had a 3 month 'out' clause), so SAW are a bit behind the '8' Ball. Their demands on using Munda as an alt to Henderson is not possible as both PCN (20) and tyre pressure (80psi max) is well outside the minimum capability of either the 170 or 190. Interesting times.

Interesting times, or desperate measures?

Sky Air World didnt do there home work in the Solomons at all. History has shown the Government dont pay there bills nor honour contracts... Hevilft and MBA (now Airline PNG) have operated on behalf of Sol Air before and both pulled out in under 6 months with not a cent & a bad taste in their mouth. :yuk:
What did they expect with a kiddy tickler like Monti with him hands running the country. :=
Sky Air World should just cut their losses and run:ugh:

HeavyLift have never operated RPT services into HIR. Clifford/PAE operated scheduled services and used H/L 721F when their An12 was written off at Henderson. The IASC route capacity approval has therefore never been used.
H/L also flies charters for the ADF; RAMSI; tuna-boat owners; and others. The S.I. government were never involved in payment of flights operated by Nick & his merry men.
It is now common knowledge that SAW's contract was flawed and Solomon A/lines terminated it on a 3 month clause despite SAW demanding 18 months of payments, indicating SAW were incompetent and amateurish. Perhaps the IE GM is smarter than many give him credit for.
