Hi there, I really need some help!!
After 9 months of searching for a job I may have secured one flying the Chieftan, and I cant wait. The problem lies in that my multi engine rating has now expired. I have been trying since the beginning of december to renew it, but weekend availability only and particularly bad weather have prevented any progress. I now have two weeks before I am due to start and the last thing I want is to have to turn down the job:= I am based in belfast, but willing to go anywhere to get this done, even Spain. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Try Cranfield, there are a number of schools there, i.e. Bonus, Billins Air Services, Cabair.
You might just have to go somewhere and sit it out waiting for a bit of decent weather. If you have a job lined up do what ever it takes. It might even be an idea to mention it to your employer as they might be able to help.
Good Luck :ok:

If your willing to travel then why not try Tayside Aviation at Dundee. They've recently acquired a Seneca 2 for ME and IR training. Theres only 1 IR student just now so lots of availability.

As a slight aside, do you really need to renew it?? If you will require differences training for the Chieftan then assuming an examiner is available then he/she could sign you off on the a/c and renew your MEP rating athe same time.

I agree - talking to the employer might be the best option. You will need a company OPC before beginning line training, which will combine much of the MEP and IR renewal/revalidation anyway (I take it that your IR was due at the same time). It's not an easy time for small air taxi type employers to find and keep suitable pilots, so I would think they could be quite flexible.

Try Bristol Flying Centre, they do MEP and IR renewals on weekends and plenty of cheap flights to get you there. They do renewals on the Seneca but they also have a Chieftan for charter work.
