DHL plane crashes in Ghanaian jungle, no victims
crashed in the Ghanaian jungle, but there were no fatalities and the three crew members escaped with minor injuries, an aviation official said on Sunday.

Edward Akuhene, safety director at Ghana's Civil Aviation Authority, told Reuters the plane had crash-landed near the West African country's southern town of Tarkwa on Saturday and was badly damaged.

"The three crew members were injured but they've been discharged from hospital this morning and been checked into a hotel," he said, adding they were all South African nationals.

He said the plane came from Ivory Coast's main city Abidjan and was on its way to Lagos in Nigeria when Abidjan airport received a distress call from the crew. The three were later rescued by Ghana Air Force helicopters.

The cargo on board had been secured, he said, but no black box had yet been retrieved.

It was a Caravan. I don't know details but the crew managed to get it into a mining strip. Wrote off the aircraft but they all got out OK.
