View Full Version : Consecutive Nights / CAP 371

The general feeling I get is that most Pilots don't mind doing 4-5 nights as long as they get a quid pro quo in days off after to recover then a few more days off to do normal things. This certainly seems to be the approach of Irish / Belgian / Spanish Airlines / FTL's.
There was also a recent comment "fatigue does not appear to be problematical in crews who regularly fly night duties(freight carriers) yet will inevitably appear in schedule / charter carriers who find themselves rostered for earlys /lates / nights in combination during short roster cycles". Charter carriers also suffer from creeping delays which must affect rest patterns, ie; 1700 LPA now 2300 LPA whereas Freighters seem to go on time with the odd tech/wx problem once gone.

CAP371 is probably twice as restrictive as other EU Airlines when coming to night duties.

Can anyone throw any light on this, and if its the usual safety reply is it based on anything concrete.
