Just read this on Jet Photos

Lion Air (PT Lion Mentari Airlines dba) (Jakarta) has announced it will acquire a 49% share of an unnamed Australian carrier to gain a foothold in the aggressive Australian market. Lion Air will designate six Boeing 737-900 ERs to operate low-fare flights in Australia. All services will be operated under the Lion Australia banner joining Tiger Airways fighting a fare war for a market share against the incumbents QANTAS Airways, Jetstar Airways and Virgin Blue Airlines. Lion will also acquire a Thai airline and rename it Lion Thailand.

First I'd heard about it and I must say I'm a bit surprised.....What do people think? Is the Australian market big enough to support 3 or four low cost carriers??? Which markets is Lion air likely to focus on?
