Many of you will know, or have read, some of my responses over the years on here, both as a wannabe hostie many years ago, and more recently as someone who's been flying now for about 7 years...

But...as with many things in this industry - and the Qantas Group - the final straw came for me with reduced crew in Jetstar domestic. 8-10 hour shifts, no breaks, no chance to eat or drink, shorter and harder turnarounds...so, enough is enough...

and I'm goooooooooooooone.

I'm very sad to be leaving the industry, but it's time for me to look after me.

I wish everyone all the best for their flying futures.

Too late Peg...My resignation was tendered weeks ago, and my last few shifts are afoot...I've already got a job in the 'real world'...the shock was, right before Christmas, my new boss rang me to wish me a Merry Xmas, etc., and he was looking forward to working with me, etc etc...all very refreshing.

Mind you...just because I've hung up my wings now, doesn't mean I won't pin them back on again in the future...

I believe in Karma... It circulates not only within people but also organisations, companies and corporations. The Karma thats been created by Jetstar management cannot survive in the long term.

Have you ever heard of an airline..... where you get congratulated for leaving?

What a sad day for Jetstar.

You are losing one of your most intelligent, dedicated, trustworthy and loyal crew members an airline could find. You have lost many before, but this resignation will hit the company hard.

After knowing you for more than 10 years Mr Seatback I wish you all the best for the future and certainly hope I see you with wings on again someday.

I remember walking that awfully long recruitment road with you many years ago - flight west, ansett, virgin, kendall, southern, eastern, sunstate, qantas and the late night phone calls swapping interview tips after a hard day in a group interview ! We finally made it, and that was in the days when you had to be top notch to be hired.

Farewell mate - all the best.

JQ has lost another valuble employee. It is a sad day.

I have also made the choice to leave Jetstar and am very satisfied with this decision.

Unfortunately 8-10 hours shifts, 30 minute turnarounds, 4 crew complement, cleaning the aircraft, little chance for the elusive '20 minute uninterrupted break,' minimum rest and little regard for fatigue management is the norm these days :ugh:

All the best for your career change.

As SLF I had the pleasure of one internal flight in Oz in 06 with Jetstar. My daughter was on crutches and the CC were kind and helpful to her - and very funny. A passenger was taken ill mid flight and the incident was dealt with calmly and professionally. All in all we were most impressed with the CC and it was easily the nicest of the flights we took that holiday. My daughter still comments on the funnies the CC were coming up with - not so much a flight as a performance!

I am saddened to hear of the difficulties you face as CC - many of my internal flights on my upcoming trip were booked with Jetstar on the basis of that flight. I have no doubt that these will not be so much fun!

Just to clarify..You mean the 'norm' for a low cost carrier?
