what is the difference between turbulence and Clear Air Turbulence??

Clear Air Turbulence occurs with no nearby visible hints that it's there. Turbulence in bad weather with lots of nasty clouds around at least you have a good guess it's there. The nasty bit about CAT is that with no visual cues it can occur without any warning.

...and is the reason I have my seat belt fastened for the entire journey. :)
