F/Es being made redundant,A300s being crewed by ex Sabena pilots,757 transition for ACL crews up in the air (excuse the pun). Ive seen a lot of very P****d off people lately. What is happening? the buses are not crewed by ex saben just a couple of sabena crew employed by e.a.t. to make up the numbers the rest are from the 727

Heard from a DHL guy on Thursday who was deadheading with us that the F/Es were being offered £125 for each year of service? That can't be right, surely not. What would happen if all the F/Es left now, could DHL/ACL cover the routes?

yes, I have been following this one.The acl Airbus crews are to be split between those on the Air Post contract and those transfering with aircraft to EAT in Belgium.Belgium based. Up to nine FEs on the ACL are to be laid off with 3 months money instead of 3 months notice.Not much of a package for loyal labour!

my last msg should have read up to 9 FEs on the B727 are getting laid off!

If they are laying off F/E's from the 727 why are they training new F/E's(ex RAF I believe) for their L382's rather than cross-training the 727 guys instead of making them redundant? Surely this is a bit of loyalty for people who have worked for ACL. . .. . <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="confused.gif" />

Good point 'ClearReverse', I believe the ex RAF guys are already trained on RAF Hercs'.I suppose not retraining ACL B727 crews saves cash.Just good business!

Dear "rockontommy" I've been doing a bit of digging and as far as I can find out there are only 2 RAF FE's who hold the little brown book with Hercules as a type rate and one of those is still in the air force, the other is a reservist/auxillary (?). Some one out there must know something they aren't telling the rest of us.. .. . <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="confused.gif" />

From a rather tenuous source there are other guys with Lockheed Hercules type ratings on their licences but all are still in the RAF and none are leaving now anyway. I dont know about the guys flying with them whilst still in the RAF but it appears that one is probably in his final few weeks with the military and if one is a reservist he must have left full time service anyway. Acl probably arent looking for anyone, they must have enough guys from South Africa to man the aircraft they own because they have had this type of aircraft for a long time now. I cant think of anyone else operating this type in the UK unless you count the RAF so if you wanted to bring in a "new" type and start flying it around the powers that be must have a set of criteria including just exactly who is going to be doing the flying. No doubt having a couple of trained guys on type would be enough to get through that hoop. Acl could then import crews from outside the EU and save a huge amount on wages. Problems would only arise if they lose the experience they've managed to grab to someone else.
Gonna have to keep an eye on this thread if this is the level we've decended to.
