Could somebody please tell me how a typical A320/A330 HK roster looks like ? MFF ? Thank You.

A PM with an actual roster would be better, but I don't think there will be many takers...

I gather the new deal has been voted for.
Are ppl confident it was enough to weigh up against the daily pollution ? Are there still places where pollution isn't too bad ?

Cheers and a Merry Christmas !

Roster has 8-9 days off a month at random. Usually paired up but sometimes single one... Promises and commitments to make it better are part of the deal voted in.

Escape the pollution? Yes no probs, I read the paper next to my 50Db airpurifier which wrecks my ears but keeps the lungs clear ;-) (that means no)

thanks dragon501,

Does that mean you sleep every night in your own bed (or...) next to the air-purifier ? or do you have lay-overs too ??

15 320-units compared to 16 330-units. Does that mean the flying is 50/50 ? somebody with a guesstimated %

And Then

KA overnights are pollution purgatory. You rest in hotels, cities and conditions so bad. You welcome return to Hong Kong.

Harden up ! The lungs that is. Start smoken Cubans before you get here.

On the 330 you can expect to have around 7-9 days off. Late check out before day off almost standard. Not too many early check ins.
8-12 overnights, all of them in either poor hotels or poor location. Time away will be around 300 hours a month (No joke). It is a really bad situation for the moment but the company will try to have a rostering agreement in place before April.....and I almost forgot...what the roster says means nothing. KA thinks that they own you and they will change your roster as they please (or try).
Nice to see the management changing but I would still not accept a position in KA until rostering and the 747 situation is sorted out.
Hope it helps

Romeo y Juliettas work fine. But if you can't afford then, try Capsatain full strength (without filters).

Last 2 rosters (330) sees an improvement for me, personally. Also, I have come across F/O's with 12 days/off in December and/or January, which is pretty good for short haul in this day and age. This may be above average, but the company is (supposed to be) trying to improve rosters - it has worked for me. Captains rosters seems to be on a status quo, but then again - we are desperately short of skippers after the mass exodus of guys leaving KA.
FYI the 320's got far less nightstops and longer flights at the moment, i.e. more overtime, while the 330 gives me on average 8 nightstops/month (nothing exotic), but for the most of the time, quite an easy day out!
Also normally a few one-sector days with check-in after 1800LT or check-out before 1000LT. Even though these don't add up as G-days, and you can't plan on doing anything for the fear of being asked/told (?!) to continue duty, it's working out pretty well for me! Enough time off to spend most of the take-home :uhoh:

Thansk for the answers so far.

Could I join str8 on the A330 ? if not, how long would it take me to get there ? I have both ratings current.

I' m used to crappy hotels anyway. That's my current companies standard practice :hmm:

Romeo y Julieta works for me :ok:

yep, and with guys/girls willing to come here no wonder our COS doesn't improve very much. Thanks for coming.........

I have to chuckle at this... While that may be an improvement in Hong Kong in general and Dragon specifically, I've got 16 days off showing on my January schedule back home... That's been the norm for this short haul carrier... ;)

North America is indeed a different place to work... There is life after Hong Kong...

I left Dragon 8 years ago and haven't looked back... With the exception of checking in here once in a while to see how some of the friends I left in Honker's are doing...

Good luck to all of you in your quest for improved working conditions. Merry Christmas to all and all the best for 2008!

They will put you on a fleet, no choice when u join....

Have the feeling most new joiners go on the 330 but does it matter? It's same same just less money (hardly any overtime) and more time away... So... Ill stick with my mini busss ;-)

Im in the same boat...considering coming to work in Asia...but in my observations, there is a trade off. To put is basically..you get a bit extra cash in pocket working in Hong Kong/asia, and you get your house allowance and pension up front, whereas you work harder and have less control overy your roster and have to live in a tower with a damned elevator. N America, a bit less cash in pocket, but way nicer roster and way better time off, way more affordable recreation, and pension at the end..not to mention not having to live in a condo for your whole life. I think the latter is better personally.

555orange,

I can see what you mean, but the problem is that litle green card you need.

ACMS,

I don't think you got me. Sarcasme was from my side. Nevermind, I notice in other threads you're not too much of a KA fan anyway. Thanks for your input though (sarcasme again, nothing personal).

Happy New Year
