For those who have an interest,

From 'The West Australian', Sat 22/12,

Two men in their 50's are believed to have died instantly when their ultra-light aircraft dived into the ground soon after take-off from Bindoon Airport at 9am Yesterday.

...The small two seater SportsStar Recreational Aircraft.... was reported overdue for landing at Northam and it was 3pm before the wreckage was found in dense State forest about 12km from Bindoon.

...Police said that a 50yr old Bindoon man and a 58 yr old High Wycombe man killed in the high impact crash were both qualified and experienced pilots.

...A spokesman for the CASA said it would delegate the investigation to Recreational Aviation Aust. because of the type of aircraft involved.

From the accompanying photo, both wingtips heavily damaged / missing, nose impacted, horiz. tail-plane askew.
(Tried to go 'between the trees' perhaps?)

Very sad, especially at this time of the year.

Condolences to families, friends.

Regards....

Makes our squabbles about airspace seem pretty insignificant ...:(
