Is sydney and melbourne a 400 base or still a 200 base?

So the available DEFO bases at the moment are. MEL SYD 400 freighter.

MEL/SYD/ADL/PER?? on the Airbus? Is this correct?

DEFO B744 Freighter - SYD

DEFO A330 Pax - SYD, MEL (possibly ADL if originally recruited to MEL/SYD base)

All Pilots employed after Jan 1st 2008 will be on the new COS08 package.

COS08 has been forced onto new employees by the company.

The overall package has been slashed to similar levels of Jetstar. The Virgin Blue FO salary is much higher than a DEFO for CX after Jan 1st 2008.

CX has had a lot of pilots resign lately (including a DEFO Pax Oz Base who didn't even bother to finish training) & it is starting to show in the rostering.

I believe COS08 will be a disaster for CX as better packages can be found elsewhere.

Details of COS08 however have be discussed in great detail in other posts. Try a search.

Join Cx, get your A330 rating, then leave. May save you a bond later. BTW if you joined Jester (correct spelling ) with this rating will they recognise it? Hence no bond required?

We don't mind. It's company first for us.

If everyone who joined as a $90k/year F/o resigned how long do you think it would put your upgrade back? I'm thinking four direct entry F/o's per month. Do you not think it would send a message to hire at decent wages?

Perhaps.... Or maybe start bonding

Any ideas on how many crews are based in sydney or melbourne,I guess maybe 5 or 6 crews in each port, are they daily rotations out of these ports to HK?

Firstly BOnds are not allowed in HKG.

Secondly think a few years down the line...you will not be able to hold a captain slot in Australia. The bases are full and there is a huge number of guys requesting them. So if you join CX you will either remein an FO for your time at CX or you will have to move to HKG to be a captain.

or you can join an australian airline now and will be able to live happly ever after in Oz...lets face it they do pay better than CX!!!

Well, after 5 months of deliberation, I have now decided after the CC08 pay scales, CX is a no go. (along with several mates!) With 3000hrs mil time (fast jet) I reckon CX have got their priorities all wrong. There are better options, short and long term, here in OZ! and else where! Thanks CX, but no thanks! Anyone in VB, J* or QF know of any jobs going? :)

2muchROSO,

Good decision.

Better to know now rather than after you started.

Any new joiners should take note of how CX is going to shaft you all from 2008.

2muchroso,

Do as a favor and please make sure you tell cx the reason for you turning down the offer...tell them that you can get a better life and money by living in Oz rather than in HKG.

Markon, if you join Geoffstar ( correct spelling ) they will recognise the 330, hence no costs, Jeffstar has no bond, just a simple " turn up with your rating " policy, or salary sacrifice, same diff.
