Hey Guys,

Was chatting to my old man's mates last night. Two of them were retired mil pilots of the ROCAF. One of them, a former F-16 and F-5 driver and the other, a former 737 VIP driver. They were talking to me about their experiences and then the topic came up of them taking me up to do some aerobatics. One of them told me that it was not possible because they do not have the license to fly in NZ and no operator would allow them to hire aircraft. To be able to fly, they would need to start from the beginning and relearn everything to get their PPL. I was just wondering if there were any other way for experienced mil guys to be able to hire aircraft and fly it themselves without having to go through the costly and time consuming process of getting a normal license.

Cheers,
Tony

Not sure about NZ, but in Australia most ex RAAF'ies get a recognition to a CPL given the right paperwork is filled out and any supplament exmas passed...
