No big deal....dumped 50T (or whatever), landed. Turned out to be an inidcation problem so they refueled and left.
Wonder what they did for crew though; ...had to be a fifteen hour duty originally...three hour troubleshoot?? anyone answer their phones??
The YVR press sure had fun. Terror sells !
I heard they even shut down traffic on one of the bridges during Friday rushhour. Even with an overrun of the active runway; it's not even close to that bridge!
no big deal...

I'm no expert on the A340, but what was all the fuss about a simple 'indication problem' that warranted an emergency landing?

False indication of flap extension, flap speed limit? No flight engineer, so dump 50 tons of fuel and return.:E
