Qantas upgrades outlook

Posted 1 hour 53 minutes ago

Australia's major airline Qantas has upgraded its profit outlook.

Qantas chief executive officer Geoff Dixon says pre-tax profit this financial year is now expected to be about 40 per cent higher than last year's result of just over $1 billion.

Mr Dixon says earnings for the first five months of the year have been above forecast and forward bookings remain robust.

Now doesn't that make you feel good? What a fantastic business model! What a pity the APA bid didn't go ahead, then the QANTAS business model would never have seen the light of day.

The Model:

1. Screw the Customers who have no choice but to use your product.

2. Scream and cry about foriegn competition, and that the sky is falling.

3. Screw the staff by making them fear for their jobs - see item number 2.

4. Profit.

Wow! It's amazing what a failed bid can do for a company... And the falling sky for that matter!
So, will Geoff be paying royalties to the failed APA people, for making use of their business model?:hmm:

Hey Sunfish, you failed to include the latest take that this is just a "temporary" purple patch, the sky is actually still going to fall in, but not just quite yet...

Damn! Missed that bit, it's really comical to see Qantas screaming doom and gloom all the way to the bank....

Hey Sunfish you forgot to include a rant about Sydney in your drivel.

Is it still raining down there?

Qantas management legend's in their own sheltered workshop!
Screw the worker and customer!
Bet management get a nice little bonus for Christmas and a bottle of wine!

The bonus will be at least 6 figures, the bottle of wine will actually be a case of Grange .

Too bad for the travelling public and all the hardworking , dedicated staff who are getting Ripped-off.

Who said that Gordon Gekko is dead? He's now is the CEO of an Australian airline. As GD would say,"You're lucky you've got a job, and I haven't outsourced you out to China or India"

Imagine, 12 months ago if the APA bid was successful?

Hey, as MAJ said, "you are all mental if you don't accept the offer"

I saw her picture in today's paper. when GD and MAJ were kissing each other when the APA bid was announced. It was enough to make me puke up my Weet-Bix.

GD is the devil himself, doesn't give a stuff about the staff or customers.

Glad it is Grange, I would hate management to drink anything cheap and nasty!
Love when Geoff and Marg kiss reminds of watching B grade porn movies!

Only difference with watching a B grade Porn movie is that the travelling public and the staff are the ones who are getting screwed by Dixon:ok:

It's great to see the Qantas Group doing so well...how about another premium airline ( Ansett Mark_? )to start-up in Oz and give the rather assertive, happy staff something to really smile about!:D

Just be careful everyone, the airline isn't going as well as the figures suggest...

We all need to tighten our belts, work smarter and continuously improve.:eek::eek::eek::D:D

Perhaps the future might be a bit more difficult for senior management, make them earn their bonuses.

No - when Qantas announced its restructuring plans a couple of months ago, they said they'd run the figures prior to the takeover bid (and of course we can assume there was never any collusion with APA ), and determined that this would be the way to go in terms of improving shareholder value etc.

Only problem was, they kinda forgot to mention any of this to the shareholders during the course of the takeover bid.:ugh:

It makes me sick. The top managment say knew nothing about the freight cartel, but are quick to say "we" are the ones that made this profit through their management.

One minute they don't know anything, the next everything good is because of them.

Shame that the increase in profits, can only strech to a 3% pay increase for the QF LAME!

Go hard boys!
