View Full Version : We are Untouchable!!!

We still expect you to answer your phone on O and G days, reduce physiological rest to minimum rest, use discretion when needed to maximum extent possible, 3 man ULH when needed to maximum discretion, acknowledge crew direct so the FDP does not start at the 4 hour mark when delayed, reduce normal rest to min rest, flying the freighter, not sign in for duty when you know there is a change of duty (as your FDP will start), etc

We realize that most pilots are doing this to help The Cathay Pacific Group but only small percentages are not. Ask around but most likely your friends will say they are not doing this out of retribution from fellow pilots.

Most pilots will say one thing and do another when Crew Control applies a small amount of pressure.

The Toronto base situation: we will do whatever we feel is necessary to protect the operation and our ASL pilots. If need be, we will convert them to passenger aircraft out of seniority. If you don’t like it, take us to court. It will only take about 5-7 years and then we would have a new COS making this go away.

We would rather promote out of seniority and go to court than to keep the Freighter agreement in place and not have pilots with the option of not flying the freighter. You see we have no choice and when we have no choice we will do whatever to protect the operation. Remember 2001?

You see, you are powerless to do anything about it and your AOA doesn’t have the funds to take us to court. They can hardly cover their own expenses let alone have another lawyer bill. Your committee simply cannot afford to take us to court. We know it and your AOA know it. You see, WE WIN YET AGAIN. I relish doing this to the pilots; it’s actually very easy. Now the cabin or ground staff is another situation.

We don’t care if you have a contract or not. It is our interpretation of the contract and it is we that say what is included or not. Agreements are just that, agreements and are binding in honor only. We will do what we want.

Most have accepted COS 08 and it will be implemented without any protest from the pilots or the AOA. Some may think this is illegal but we don’t really care. The Cathay Pacific Group does what it wants in Hong Kong. If you don’t like it leave, we have many applicants in the recruiting office to take your place.

We may be forced to increase pay and conditions to new joiners at our sister airline but we will not have that problem at Cathay Pacific.

To my bonus, which is rather HUGE I may add. Enjoy that rather small 13th month (those of you that still have it) and your 4 days of profit share you will receive next April. See paragraph one.

You are really a pathetic group.

It has been brought up that the AOA and DPA will join forces. Quite frankly, the DPA does not want to be brought down, as they believe they are on a high. We are looking at taking that momentum away by making an example of some pilots. We had free beer to locate the troublemakers and we are now reviewing their P Files for evidence to begin terminations.

If need be The Cathay Pacific Group is willing to take KA down to the bare skeleton and start over. Some may believe there are no pilots to do this but you are mistaken.

We will have new pilots joining Cathay Pacific with a CPA seniority number and second them to KA. When there time has come they will maintain their seniority number with Cathay and fly their respective position within the Cathay system.

While seconded to Dragonair, they will be allowed to bid for bases within Cathay and if successful, the base will be protected until the end of their secondment. We may hire these pilots as DEFO’s on a base with CX but if they are willing to be seconded to KA, we will protect their base for them until finished.

With the promise of a CX seniority number and a promise of a base slot, we will have no problems recruiting pilots to Dragonair. With KA being a skeleton, upgrades will be very quick and this will attract many applicants from hotter and dryer climates to be located closer to home and the promise of a base.

Just a reminder to our KA colleagues, we do what we want in Hong Kong. With regard to the law whether it be AFTL’s or contracts, we are untouchable. This is your warning.

To my bonus.

Great post "The Management".

It's truly sad that some managers actually believe what you wrote. It won't take them long to realize how wrong they are and that they are truly beyond their best before date!

Enjoy your last bonus...retirement is coming early for many!:}

Question for The Management,

When will the standards being applied to the pilot group, both to individuals and to the group as a whole, be applied to airline management? You need to admit to yourselves what the rest of us already know and that is that the standard of management in airlines these days is truly dreadful.

The current generation of managers has no clue about the running of an airline, with the exception of a scarce few (HK not included). Your whole approach is about cost cutting in order to feed your bonuses. It wouldn't dawn on you to actually try and improve the business. When was the last time you actually walked aft of the business/first class bulkhead?

We are in the business of making maximum PROFITS for our shareholders and of course ultimately ourselves.

The more we take away from our employees the more bonus. We consider the employees of Cathay Pacific a necessary evil but an evil just the same.

EZ, I was just finishing up a bottle of Chateau Lynch-Bages 2001, rather fitting year don’t you think.

We are having our Management Meeting today and we will be discussing many topics with our Sister Airline and the way forward.

You may have noticed on the news last night that many of the protesters donned masks and hats for fear of retribution by our Managers. I was very pleased to see fear and intimidation working very well at The Cathay Pacific Group. We had our own people taking photos of protesters. They will be dealt with accordingly.

Our job in Management is to keep our employees as poor as possible and to always maintain that fear of termination. If one is terminated where will one go, whether pilots or non-pilots, especially this close to the festive season.

We like to thank each and every pilot for helping this festive season.

Well off to the meeting to make decisions on my bonus.

Well at least CX are getting KA's Ex Adeleide SO's for the next couple of years. So instead of a 2000hour guy in the back you get a 200 hour guy who's hardly been outta HK!

Great company on those European layovers :}

great company? maybe.
competent? definitely!

Great company on those European layovers
HKGPEK1, I've been on great cross-country drives in Europe with ex-Cadets more than once on a layover. I consider that quite good company indeed. While very often the only thing "expats" are interested in is walking to a bar 50 yards from the hotel and getting pissed every night. Great company? Maybe to you....but it goes both ways pal.
So instead of a 2000hour guy in the back you get a 200 hour guy who's hardly been outta HK!

From what you say you must've been quite the globe-trotter before joining CX, may I suggest you show your understanding of international cultures by not pointing fingers at a particular group without being provoked at all?
