If anyone out there from CX has any inkling that they (chicks obviously) or their wife are/is preggers, make sure you declare it to CX before the end of the year, or it will cost you an extra $15K if you choose to go private. The recent NTC specifically states:
"Based on the current costs for customary maternity care, the sums for pregnancies declared to Corporate Medical Department on or after 1 January 2008 will be:
Private Room basis (Section 10.5 of Green Pages and Paragraph 3 of the Company Policy) - HK$100,000.
Semi-Private Room or Ward Bed (Paragraph 4. of the Company Policy) - HK$75,000."
These amounts are up from $85K and $60K respectively. Despite this, it would seem that not everyone at CX is reading from the same page, as a friend of mine recently tried to "declare" as such, and was told that they would have to pay the new higher threshold as the child would be born in 2008. :ugh:
I recommend taking a printout of the NTC, which is in the NTC-General area under "Flight Crew" on intraCX.
