just wondering if airlines prefer younger pilots than people who have 200 hours at the age of 30+.......???

No.
Some look for different things aswell, and if we knew an exact list of what these things are, we would probably have 50% of all the posts in the "Inteviews and sponsorship" section.

Maturity and CRM count a great deal:)

depends of who recruit!!!
swiss air(on their website) by example is max 38yo for airbus pilot.
so what do you do after 38???

I had the dubious honour of being the course "Grandad" at 30. I was the second of the 15 to get a job.
From what I heard, up to approx 35, they don't care whether you are 18 or 35, but above that age it gets more difficult but, of course, very far from impossible.
As things get tighter during the slow down, maybe youth will become an advantage; the old "age comensurate with experience" could rear its ugly head again?
Got my first job on a turbo-prop at 31, moved onto jets at 34...

I was 39 with 300 hrs, 3 years ago.
Had 3 job offers (all from Turboprop outfits) took 1 had great fun and now am flying jets, so no I don't believe that age is a problem.

Got my first job at the tender age of 38 (regional TP operator); I know from people doing recruitment at my airline that "oldish" guys/gals (35 and over) are actually preferred. Factors like maturity and higher chances of people tending to stay with the company are valued higher than youth.
but then again, this is probably the view of regional/GA outfits
