View Full Version : OK, What were they?

Sitting in my office yesterday, I thought I heard something quick pass over Christchurch, but thought no more of it.

Today, a workmate asked me what "they" were - a pair of military jets, from his account. He thought they may have been F-16s.

I must be getting old and losing touch. Can anyone confirm what "they" were?

They are RAAF F-111s. They are in the South Island doing high speed low flying exercises. There are two, parking on the deep freeze apron (next to the US C-17s). Only one was flying yesterday (other in maintainance perhaps?), and I didn't see either of them today (maybe due wx?).

Yeah F-111s, we had them blast through our area at 250' AGL this morning. Sounds like good fun for those guys!

Hehehe, pretty easy to confuse an F16 with an Aardvark! (Oh wait a minute, no its not.):}
