Can anyone point me in the direction of details as to the spinning characteristics of the Grob 110 which I understand lead to it being scrapped as a project.

Many thanks

According to the current Grob test pilot (who was at Grob back then, but not flying), the G110 got into an un-recoverable spin on its second spin flight. The pilot bailed out and the plane was destroyed.

The program was canceled two weeks later.

Interesting facts about this event:

The pilot pulled the chute a bit early and some chute shrouds got cut by the prop.

The plane used a VERY similar airfoil to the Piper Tomahawk and Beach Skipper. Neither known for their teriffic spin behavior.

The pilot is a famous German TP, and has no interest in flying any other Grob aircraft :)

The famous German Test Pilot in question has given presentations about the abandonment at several European SETP seminars, but hasn't written a paper on it, nor will actually name the aircraft, although I think that most of his audience have worked it out.
