We once took the children to visit the grave of Saint Nicholas. It is in Cappadocia, Turkey, actually. They did not react particularly to this but then they were very young, it was very hot and we mollified them with cool drinks in the nearby café.

Saint Nicholas was a real, historical, early Christian holy man famous for his love of children, from which grew the present-day myth of this fellow flying around the world giving out presents.
