My family and I will be flying to Orlando out of Gatwick on VS 015 on 23 May this year. As we are within the time to reserve our seats, 2 adults,1x14 year old boy and 1x11 year old girl, not too worried about a window seat, is there a best place to be? (yeah, forget First or Club Class, and I guess the flight deck is now off limits!!) Appreciate your advice.

When you check in ask if you can have a seat next to the overwing exit. By law aircraft have to have a wider aisle next to the exits, means plenty of leg room for the long journey. Bon voyage.

They might balk at putting an 11 year old in an emergency exit seat.
Sitting in the middle row by the bulkhead is where they stick all the infants, so avoid that like the plague.
Sitting at the back means you'll get served last, so the selection of food might not all be there.
HOWEVER, if you order a special meal for yourselves (Vegetarian, Low Calorie, Seafood, Childrens etc...) you'll get served first, while everything is still hot, and you'll be close to the galley for when those drinks just have to get topped up. The screens that keep flashing are a bit further away so you can get some shut eye as well.
Some people think its safer, the airlines don't want to publish those stats for some reason.
Only thing is, you'll be last off the aircraft. Just relax, finish that beer, watch everyone else frantically queuing up as though there is some prize for the first off the aircraft, and casually stroll out once the cheap seats have cleared.

If you sit at the back you will not get served last. Most services are 4 point. Crew start at the front and aft and then meet in the middle. I agree that an 11 year old will not be allowed to sit at an emergency exit. If you all want to sit together then obviously it will need to be in the centre as the seating is 3-4-3. Hope this helps.
