Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone had got the low down on bmi and Airtours (both from the same base) - gotta choose - but know very little about each one. I know its down to me but your views and personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Yours - Lips!

Lips,

Depends what you want.

Airtours offer busy summers of charter flying with I am sure the opportunity to do some longhaul depending on base. Nightflying a definate in the summer.

bmi has more of a mix. Shorthaul, scheduled, low cost, longhaul and charters. Depending on base there is the opportunity to have a go at all these types of flying. Work is generally at a more steady pace, but this pace is constant throughout the year. There are also opportunities to nightstop at bmi, which is less likely at Airtours unless on longhaul trips.

Salary i,m sure at the end of the day is similar, however there is the opportunity for relatively quick progression/promotion within bmi.

I am a Capt at bmi and therefore have little knowledge of morale in Airtours. My girl friend flies with bmi and she is reasonably happy.

Warning! I have never been in an airline environment, where people do not moan. It seems to go with the job. Look at the pro's and cons and do what is right for you.

I can supply more info on bmi if you need it.

I hope you make the right choice.

Hi AM,

Offer from AIH only seasonal and no longhaul due to base and I am not sure what the offer from bmi will be yet I am on the list as such (course canx last yr due to 11/9). Do you know if there will be a dedicated crew for baby or will there be a mix? Will you not be worked into the ground as with other low cost carriers ie six sector days - so many questions - obviously a permanent contract would be great but with bmi it is all up in the air at the moment I believe, while all the current staff make a decision on their options.

Any inside info would be very much appreciated AM and thank you for your previous message. bmi are probably on the top of my list so any help would be great.

Thanks. .Bye Lips
