View Full Version : Eastern Inteview Help Needed!

Have an Eastern interview next week - totally panicking. Help/advice/encouragement greatly needed. Kely, if you're reading this, thanks for your reply to my question on Hazelton site. If you or anyone else in the know can divulge any more insights into Eastern's interview process, I would really really really appreciate it if you could e-mail me. I heard they prefer applicants with a lot of hospitality experience which I don't have so any advice on how to get around this hurdle will be helpful too. Must try to calm down before interview. Where's that vodka?

Kem,

First of all gentle on the vodka..... you are not going to remember what I am telling you if you are drunk!

Looks like you are having the same trouble I am having preparing for my Sunstate interview. (except i have 5 years hospitality) Just remember they know where you have worked for your last few jobs-- it is on your application on cabincrew.cv-- so if they didn't think you at least qualified for that then you wouldn't have an interview!!

I have no idea what you do for a job now, but my advice is to point out customer care, problem solving, working as a team and on your own, making the most of what you have-- I guess make your current and past jobs sound like you have worked in hospitality--just talk about the key skills.

Next get onto the internet, find your favourite search engine and type in the words "Eastern Airline"-- that is how I found info on Sunstate. I was able to come up with some general history, the general managers name and some other bits and pieces.

Go to your local travel agent and ask them for any info they have. print out the Q-link page on the QF web site.

Got a day off??? head out to the airport and have a look at how they run, talk to any flight attendants who look like they have a few minutes to spare.

check out any interview help sites on the net as they may have some practise questions for you.

That should keep you busy until I set your next lot of homework!!

SMILE

P.S Biscuit Chucker used to work for them-- amybe you should drop him a line!!

WOO-HOO!!!! Cloud 9 finally has another interview....yeppy I have an Eastern interview!!! Cant wait...i have re read everyones posts. But please feel free to add any more info that I may need for the interview. Im curious to know if eastern interviews are as grilling as mainstream QA interviews.
I noticed that in the group interview you have to stand up and talk about yourself for 2 mins, what are the main things that should be said. Do I talk about my work history, customer contact skills. Or do I talk about how I would make a great FA? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Cloudy,

Don't go into too much detail about yourself. Just introduce yourself, talk about your current job and experience, and be very brief. Also include why you want to be a Flight Attendant.

During the group session, try not to be too full on. The airlines tend to steer away from your typical over zealous behaviour these days, but dont be a garden gnome either. Give your two cents worth, but also invite feedback from others in your group. Ask them what ideas they may present and what they think of your ideas. Be very supportive and encouraging to everyone in the group, if someone gets on your nerves, DO NOT show it. Also know lots about the airline, as you will no doubt be asked.

Most importantly, dress like there is no tomorrow baby. You must look the part. If you can, wear your hair up. They will look at your shoes as well, so make sure they are a plain style, nicely polished and no scuffs. Hopefully the weather will be nice and cool for you.

Hope this helps Cloudy,

Cheers..Ditch

Good Luck

Hi Everyone,

Well today I had my interview. First was the group session then we were handed an envelope which told us if we were to be invited back the same afternoon for a 2 on 1. Yipeee, I made it through the group interview and had my second interview a few hours later.

To be honest??? I have no idea if I will be invited to go back for the next stage.(I hope so) I will find out during the week.)So than I shall let you all know.

Today was fun, and again I met some great people. The whole interview process was really relaxed, and Hr were lovley. I just hope that my answers came across ok, and yes I still managed to have the ol "interview nerves"...

Fingers, toes, arms and legs crossed.....

Hello everyone...

Guess what??? GREAT news for me. I have just received my letter regarding my interview. I have been SUCCESSFUL!!! ( no this is not a miss print) Yeppy, they congratulated me and said that I have been successful in my interview process. So Im guessing that if my medical and police report is okay I will then get a start date. Not that I have any probs with either of these, apart from a few "fashion crimes" that I committed way back in the 80's!!! :)

Anyway...thats my good news.. okay guys...I may be the first to start 2002 off on a good note, but with out a doubt you will ALL be getting great news this year too!!! :) <img src="wink.gif" border="0"> :) <img src="wink.gif" border="0">

Congratulations Cloudy,

Way to start off the year 2002. Are they recruiting for actual positions or are they putting together a wait list just like Sunstate?

Do you still have to attend one more interview after your medical and security check??

Once again -- well done

Love SMILE :)

Yeah, congrats C9. I just came over here for a quick looky. Good to see the usual suspects are still around. :)

So Ditch, you gave advice to "wear your hair up" at the interview. Did you at yours? <img src="redface.gif" border="0"> Just joking. :)

Look forward to flying with you soon C9. That's if I haven't done so already <img src="wink.gif" border="0">

This recruiting has been a little different to that in the past for both cabin and tech crew. I remember reading that the -200's had to prove themselves etc when they were first acquired. They're still there. Personally, I think it will all work out.

Just get me some APU's please...... <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Well, at the moment things could be looking very good. Depending on how things pan out over the next couple of weeks, S.A. might be a place of rapid expansion.

It's sad for the KD folks, but we have been poised for quite some time to start operations into S.A. Time will tell.

Cloud 9, you better bring TIMTAMS to work every day for the tech crew. Then I'll know who you are <img src="wink.gif" border="0">
