Can someone put a name to this for me? I think it's Callas, but then I thought it was La Mamma Morta and I was wrong about that too.

It's Casta Diva from the opera Norma.

Since I am good wiv opera, I'll give you a hint on how to recognise famous-yet-obscure tunes: the first two words the lady sings are "Caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasta Diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiva."

Mind you, she does seem to be taking the scenic route. :uhoh:

It's a cavatina, not an aria, ya idgit. :p

Hmmm, sure it's not Cecilia Bartoli Maria Malibran?:p One may have been wikipedia-ing:cool:

Not Bartoli - she couldn't sing Norma. She could sing the part of Adalgisa. Definitely not Malibran. Have sent the link to a far more knowledgeable opera buff friend of mine. Will await his judgement!

Cecilia Bartoli is a mezzo soprano with exquisite coloratura.

Well, I listened to all the performers and versions google found for me. Doesn't sound like any of them though.

The credits to the ad give everyone down to the tealady except the  singer !

And another thing...Cecilia would never slide onto a note like that.
