I can't believe the change in the attitude over the last few years of crew when downroute. It used to be such a laugh with room parties as the norm, skinny dipping galore and generally enjoying themselves when away (which is I'm sure why we all do the job.). .Now it's full of people who stay in their rooms, our european cousins who would rather have their own company, and crew who are constantly whinging. That with the current climate of everyone having the fear of the sack from companys who will readily sack them is driving me to despair...any thoughts??

Well, maybe you should change your job to a club or holiday rep or something. Some people have different reasons for working as a cabin crew...

. .No offence... .

Well in my company if you drink you might end up on TV, if you say something risque you can be disciplined and then sacked on appeal, and if you're prepared to brave these you'll usually find out the crew are nightstopping in a different hotel and on a split duty. Better stay in and watch BBC World again.

Snowbound,. .personally the only difference I notice is that people being on a lower salary than years ago they can spend less. Anyway, in my company what happens is that there are "groups of interest" forming already during the flight, and I seldom noticed the situation you describe.

Hi, Snowbound!. .I'll explain.. .My reasons for working as a CC:

1) I LOVE seeing new & exciting places.. .2) I LOVE meeting interesting people.. .3) I LOVE flying (take off, landing, even turbulence(funny, hey?).. .4) I LOVE having fun, room parties etc, but only when:. . a) I don't have to work next day;. . b) I have spare money to spend;. . c) I like people I'm with.

Oh, yes! And I love putting my uniform on, walking through the Terminal, feeling nice and sexy etc.. Don't you?

What I was trying to tell you - if this job is not what it used to be for you, if you are not having as much fun as you used to, why don't you find another job, where you'll get all those things?

I agree, it has changed, but it doesn't put me off. I still love my job. Just hoping I'll get it back one day.

Have fun anyway!

Snowbound.....

Could not agree more. I started flying for an airline in1966 and have seen a profound change. I really think that a different type personality is attracted to this business now. There are a few exceptions but there are a lot of Slam Clickers. Slam their door and click the lock.
