When the above aircraft was removed from outside the Memorial Chapel at Biggin Hill in, I think, the 1980's does anyone know what became of the stainless steel sign describing its installation that was mounted on a stone plinth in front of it?
I know the whereabouts of the one from the Spitfire, SL674, but can find no trace of this relic.

Did try this forum some time back, hoping for better luck this time.

Many thanks.

Suggest you call Peter Lonergan, the MD of EGKB. I'd ask, but not going to be there 'til early next week. Good luck.

The Hurricane and Spitfire were on MoD land therefore the civillian side of the aerodrome did not have any involvement in their removal. So I doubt the current Airport Director will know what happened to the sign.

You might try by asking the guy who acts as curator of the chapel when its open as the aircraft were part of that memorial. Failing that the local Air Training Corps squadron (their hut is in the same area) is often a good source information.
