Baby born on QR flight

A happy story.
A Jordan based Filipina housemaid who planned to have a baby in her country gave birth during a Qatar Airways flight on Tuesday. The 22-year-old woman was travelling to the Philippines from Amman via Doha but went into labour a few minutes before the aircraft landed in Qatar. The delivery took place with the help of the cabin crew and a Jordanian doctor who happened to be on board.

A spokesperson for the Philippine embassy said the newborn, named Qatarina, is likely to receive “privileges” from Qatar Airways including free flights for life. The maid was given special permission to leave the airport and was checked into Hamad Hospital until she was released yesterday afternoon to spend a few days at the Movenpick hotel at the expense of Qatar Airways. The spokesperson said there the woman will be in the generous hands of Qatar Airways for a week to come. “We learn that both the mother and the baby are in good health,” the embassy said.

The maid, Jolie Ann Dela Cruz Loretha, came to Amman some nine months ago, and said that her host Jordanian family dealt with her pregnancy with “full understanding”. She told Gulf Times that her pregnancy tests in the Philippines were negative but she learnt about the positive result soon after her arrival in Amman. She said that her host’s family was very accommodating and did not ask her to perform difficult chores, considering her condition. However, she said: “I performed my job required from me and nothing less.”

Very noble gesture from QR :D Sadly some of these small acts of kindness and humanity will be buried in the rubble of whinging, rigamarole and "noise" associated with QR...................:sad:

That's really an uplifting story. :)

Now I wish QR would afford that same humanity with their very hard working cabin crew and staff in general.

But story does indeed counter some of the appauling behvaior QR has displayed toward crew members in recent past.

notwithstandin' the nice warm fuzzy feelin' generated by a story like this one... I wonder what QR will provide to passengers who don't just deliver a baby on a flight, but what if you conceived a child on a QR flight?:)

I never expected there would be a post in here about that case. :cool:

Out of sudden, it happened to be the time to speak about personal experience speech and started to pull up information which I almost forgot the date but not the scene of that day. :=

We didn't have any licensed doctor or nurse on board on that short flight and she didn't seem as pregnant lady and didn't hold a MEDIF form either. We were not informed until the moment she started the pain and was flying alone. But, one lady who had experienced in child birth helped me to save a life. :ok: What I remember is her repeated question " am I dying, am I dying?", yet surprisingly she said "no pain anymore" with smile once she heard her girl screamed :{ and laid on her body.:)
Her placenta was cut by a doctor only after we land. (more than 20 min after she delivered the baby)

Yes, but....Her "understanding" Jordanian family kept her i Jordon until she was nine months pregnant.

if i was the King of Qatar i would have right away gave the baby Qatari nationality than it would have sound a lot better

I know of TWO case of rape by Jordanian sponsors, of Philippina girls, who were raped within 2 days of thier arrival.
They did not get pregnant. They were sent to Aqaba to "work".

The two girls I know were summoned by the courts for absconding from thier rapist sponsors.

They have both raised counter charges against thier sponsors, who laughed out loud when advised by the human rights lawyer, that they would be charged with trafficking.

I was really glad someone who had experienced help during the delivery process and thanks to her.
But since she was not a doctor or nurse we couldn't even deal with scissor or any necessary procedures that we should use from Doctor Kit.

For some reason, Gulf Times couldn't have detail information or else it would have more accurate as this is the only resource I found about this news by now.

It was preterm birth, her pregnancy is not 8 months yet.
