Hi All

how does one get these approvals and does it require an Instructor rating?

Thanks :)

No, they are company appointments. The company must have an approved check and training scheme (including the training and appointment of supervisory staff) as part of the approval of its operations manual.

Line Training is a company appointment. Line Check is a CASA approval. There is a difference. Instructor rating not required for either, but helps if you have one as there is usually some stuff in the C & T manual about having done an instructional techniques course.
In some circles, some value is placed on having done the Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment.
