I would like to know if there is anybody out there that has experience flying / operating the PZL W-3A SOKOL, any info would be much appreciated.
[email protected]
Hi all,
who has any experience with this machine:
PZL-Swidnik S.A. W-3A Sokol, http://www.rotor.com/rotor/HAIsMarketplace/AircraftSpecificationsList/PZLSwidnikSAW3ASokol/tabid/726/Default.aspx
Please let me know the good, the bad and especially the ugly!!
Everything! Power, maintenance, parts ,ops cost, performance, reliability, etc.
(Yes, I checked already onthe available papers and numbers, but I need the nitty gritty feedback from the field!!)
If there are any 212/412/210/205/etc. drivers that have time on the Sokol too, please send me the "details"!
If you prefer PM is good!!
Thanx!

Empire Test Pilots School visit PZL most years and normally get to fly the W-3, if you give them a call they may be able to help. I flew it last year for a quick trip and was quite impressed.
Good luck

3Top,
Be sure and post your findings on here as I and possibly others are interested as well. I have yet to see one flying here in the states but they are supposed to be certified by the FAA.
Cheers

I flew the Sokol once and fly the 412 regularly. There is good and bad about all helicopters. What kind of flying are you wanting to do with it?

Please give a synopsis on the SW-3 if and when you get it - I spoke to an ETPS chap who really was quite impressed about it. I understand in the early years they had issues with fuel tanks and baffles [or lack of] however, I think he said they had put them in now?? I guess the issue would have been changes of C of G with large attitude changes leading to undemanded flight path change??
I have just located a nice presentation on PZL's "Sokol" modernization program, dated 2008 ...
