U.S. Airways Crew Gets Sick On Flight To Boston

(WBZ) BOSTON A US Airways crew was treated and released from an area hospital after becoming ill on a flight to Boston Monday morning.

The airline says the two pilots and three flight attendants were working on Flight 2022, a Star Alliance shuttle from Reagan Airport in Washington, D.C., to Logan Airport when they got sick. The flight landed at Logan without incident. The crew was treated by emergency medical services at the gate.

EMS told WBZ it took the five to Massachusetts General Hospital to be treated for symptoms similar to carbon monoxide poisoning. All five were released later in the day.

There were 81 passengers on the plane. None of them were ill.

A spokesperson for U.S. Airways says the flight was scheduled to leave Washington around 7:30 a.m. when it was forced back to the gate because of a smell on the plane. The crew and passengers switched to a new jet and flew to Boston. During that flight the two pilots and three flight attendants became ill.

A spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration says the crew reported a sulfur-like odor on the original plane, but there is no immediate word on what caused it.

"Our initial call was for several people not feeling well. I guess there was some question about a malfunctioning oil pump," Boston EMZ Lt. Christopher Stratton said, adding that it "has yet to be determined if that was the initial source."

This is the US Airways shuttle which is flown by A319s and A320.

I like how it's been renamed the Star Alliance Shuttle:ok:
