Hello fellows,
For those who dont know, Air Senegal International has just been withdrawn from Royal Air Maroc authority who so far had 51 per cent of the socety capital, that by the Senegalese government , that nown detains 75 per cent at least..
TakIng into account the strategic position of SenEgAl, it would be not surprising that foreign investors or companies trie to get in this promising but so far badly managed company??
I've heard rumoors of Arabic investors...Have u too..? Who in your opinion would be interested in ASI??
Africa (in general) and west Africa in particular has great potential for increased air traffic, however, many of the local governments have their collective hands in the cookie jar, and until this activity is curtailed, local airlines, managed by locals, will not succeed...in my considered opinion.
Now, having said all this, it is possible for small local carriers to succeed, but for the present, they need to be managed by, and the funding provided from, foreign investors.
Look for one new small carrier to pass through Dakar on a regular basis, with wide-body aircraft (Lockheed L1011) and regional aircraft as well (BAe146 is under consideration)...so the future looks bright for the area, so long as 'governments' keep their hands off for awhile.
Time will tell.

What 411A said is absolutely true.
This is a proof that ASI had issues.
It all boils down to the power struggle between the Senegalese and the Moroccan managers heading the sensitive part of the operation.
The RAM expertise was there, the power struggle lead to premature
decisions made in disagreement and often the struggle turned into a racial national vs foreigner debate.
Unrealistic goals with unrealistic means only lead to .....
Try and compete with Air France on DKR-CDG/ORY using a 737NG ? :confused:
What is lying ahead remains to be seen. No one would venture into a similar deal unless political power can be set aside or lessened to a degree not as to interfere with the ops.
SAA runs flights into the USA out DKR in cooperation with the govt but that is different thing altogether.
