G'day everybody. I was looking into applying for the Rex cadet scheme. However I cannot for the life of me find any info on the minimum requirements. My NSW HSC subjects are physics, english adv, general maths, french continuers, french ext and economics. Anybody know if I qualify?
I would really appreciate your help, thanks.

My understanding of it is you just need to be eligible to gain a license, and of course have Australian Residency. Other than that I think you can go in with little or no experience.

Sorry if that wasn't the minimum criteria you were referring to.

Hi Speedbird 9,

I would say you definately qualify. I had a phone call from Kim at HR in REX this week and we discussed the cadetsahip. I'm thinking about it but they also said i would have to do all of the flying training again and i already have 190 hours so that would be another $40000 with no garantee of a job.
If you've got no flying exp or limited then i would say go for it though. Food and accom is supplied, you have to study theory in your own time and it is a 32 week course.
Best of luck.
Marty

Thanks for the replies. I'm just worried that my maths level is to low as Qantas cadetship does not accept general maths. Anybody know if rex is different and accept general?
Cheers

That is crazy if you need to do all the training again if you already have a license.

Hi Adam,
Yeah i'm probably not going to do that. I'm looking at heading over to the states and doing a TR on a 737. Costs about AU$55000 and you get the TR and 200 hours on a 737. I've been reading lots of stories of guys who go this route.

Speedbird9,
They did tell me that my maths had to be yr 12 level but they didn't elaborate but my guess is that they would like the same level as qantas.

$55000 is a lot of money obviously, but that would be an awesome idea. All the best with it if you take that route then Marty.
