Has anyone ever worked as self employed cabin crew? For instance I know that with Air Atlanta and some other ad-hoc/sub charter airlines you are self employed. If so do you have any good/bad things to say about it?

I have been offered a self employed position but am sceptical about sickness, insurance, all the fiddling around with paperwork, etc. I'd really appreciate it if anyone could give me some info - thanx! http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/confused.gif

Hi, the self employed position is with Transjet, which surprised me as it was advertised as though it was employment. Any comment? http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/confused.gif

Well that's true in a sense, although it is on a self employed basis - they pay you X amount each month and then you have to work out your own tax, pay your own NI contributions, etc. Went to see the Tax Man who said it's a bit dodgy, as you may not be covered by their insurance if you are self employed. Don't think I'm gonna take it - know anyone else who's recruiting?

P.S How do you know about Transjet if you don't mind me asking? It's just that no one else had a clue about them! :)
