Does anyone know of ways to build hours on weekends with a basic VFR CPL (200 hrs TT and no Instructor rating) in the Sydney basin area? Are there options with sky diving schools/aerial photography businesses or similar, or are their requirements well above that of a pilot with min hrs?:)

If you find something let me know. With 2.5 kids and a morgage the olde "Go north young fellow!" doesn't allow itself quite as readily.

Why not I did. It is all in the way you sell it flog. &hit I gotta go someones coming.

But to answer the question, grab the yellow pages or google skydive. Go to the APF website and download a copy of the jump pilots manual. Then drive out to some of these places and get to know people, ie network. In my experience skydivers either don't have jobs or wag it all the time to go and jump, cause they jump 7 days, all hours night and day, all weather except TS, the last one who did that got carried away some distance. Anyhow the point is you will find that on your days off chances are they probably need a pilot.

Good luck, its an experience you don't want to miss, I had an absolute ball flying skydivers.

:ok:

It would seem that opperators would take what they can get at the moment. But would you move out of Sydney for a full time job? Or is holidays an option, because you can rack up hours quick these days.

It doesn't matter how many hours you have you can find yourself moving away from the family for progression, and even when you are in your 'Dream Job' you might have to be away half the time and miss alot. I guess really evaluate the career your going into before you invest more time. It is a hard one on the family. And that is most jobs from flogging around the north in a 182 upto a 747 LHS.

Good luck, all the very best with it...
