Those guys who are currently ASL and who are signing over to CX, at the bottom of the seniority list effective January 1, 2008... what jobs are they taking? I heard one of them has already been awarded a YTO 777 FO slot.

Is CX using original ASL date-of-hire seniority for some things (i. e. permanent basings) and the CX seniority list number for others?

Hmm....

It will be interesting to see what happens to the bases of those currently ASL.

As for pay, my understanding is they maintain their seniority...IE a 10 year captain stays a CX freighter 10 year Captain.

i notice that there are a bunch of freighter captains around the 1000-mark on the seniority list already...whats their story? They're ex-ASL?

geh065, yes they are ex ASL. They also joined ASL around the 1997 mark and then took up the AOA and company sponsored Frtr intergration in Jan 2000 and joined at the bottom on the seniority list .... obviously before you joined CX otherwise you would be aware of such. As such no one has been disadvantaged.

So on this occasion it was a one-off deal to integrate and subsequently people continued to join ASL as a seperate company off the CX seniority? Odd.

Nobody has JOINED ASL since late 1999.

Any ASL signing over now will be a CN or FO until their seniority will allow them to be offered a different position. For CNs about 10yrs+, by which time most will have retired. The FOs are career FOs. Guys who signed over in 2000 are coming up to a seniority position to become pax CNs next year.
