Hi

I've recently attained my Frozen ATPL and want to join the business aviation sector as an FO. However, im cosidering doing an FI rating and instructing for a few years. Do many Biz jet operators hire flight instructors? If not then what do they normally look for? What would be the best route into the RHS of a Biz jet?

Your right to get an instructors rating as these days alot of our clients require at least 1500hrs total time. this is usually inthe insurance policies of most business people that are in a position to charter a jet. we have taken two instructors on in the last 12 months straight onto jet equipment! the instructor rout is far better thjan trying to buy a bucket shop type rating and trying to get a job.

Is the 1500hr TT thing now becoming a firm thing in Biz Jet aviation?

I have 1100hrs, some 850hrs on a PA31 Chieftain, half of that MPIC two crew operated. I was thinking that biz jet operators might be the next logical step but the 1500 thing could be a big barrier I think (I am UK based)??

I don't think its everywhere but more and more of our customers are specifying this as a minimum.

I would think with 1100 hours including 850 twin, you should be able to find operators in the UK to take you on. Try LEA is that they have both twins and jet aircraft. They often promote internally and are taking on more aircraft. Go and talk to people!
