About a month or so ago one of my company's planes landed with residual pressure due to a failure of the primary outflow valve. The crew of which I was part, were thus unable to use the emer dump switch. The pain in my ears on the latter stages of the approach was excruciating. On shutdown no doors were opened until the cabin alt and max diff had returned to airport level. The excess pressure was allowed to seep away through the door seals. Eventually half an hour later the doors were manually opened.
The pain gradually subsided in my ears and I have continued to fly pressurised without any major problems. However, occasionally I have minor discomfort in my ears and a feeling of fluid inside them.
Can anyone medically qualified tell me what this might be and what I can do about it?
