Hi

I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on whether this school is approved by the CAA or not?

It says they are on their website however it is not on the approved list on the CAA website.

Any info greatly appreciated as I was looking at going there for CPL/IR.

Thanks

They may well be, however dont expect to get any training done in a hurry!!!! There efforts seem to be more focussed on leeds university students and their king air opperation! When you can get a lesson however the instructors are great! Good Luck!!:}

I agree we have been very focused on the leeds students and its a big contract for us. However we now have two instructors concentrating on the cpl side of the operation and 5 instructors for leeds and the rest of the flying schools students .. The cpl will be done on dedicated aircraft and as for the king air operation that is run from a differant building its a different company and uses differant pilots. However we are looking to get a TRTO for the king air next year and hope to train our cpls up from pilots assistant to pilot in command, but this for the future.

golf driver thanks for all your helpful comments if you have anything further constructive to say, please feel free to call me at the school to discuss any further ideas on running a flying school thx

I am currently doing my ATPL's and am considering this school as i have family living in the North East.

However i am concerned as to whether the school is committed to the CPL course. There are no past students or threads to indicate a track record. Most the threads i read on this school appear to be negative.
Will the Leeds students take presidence as they are big business to the school?
Another concern is that i am told by a few people down here that most, if not all the equipment is currently up for sale including the sim......which is a bit worrying.
Anyway I am planning on giving them a visit when i have completed my exams, however in the meantime can anyone offer any advice.

Actually did not withdraw my post. You will notice a few have gone missing as they became rather personal. I stand by what I wrote adding now if you are serious, which you may not be, about looking for a school then you will go and visit, ask questions and see for yourself rather than rely on a public forum. Good luck with your training wherever you choose.

It's interesting pprune and other forums alike. The majority sign on under an alias name (as I have done). This thread seems to have completely diverted away from its intended cause, and if it were i reading, i would question who you really were. Joined in October 07 won't accept e-mails and have done nothing but intend on bad publicity towards the school!!!!???

If it were I interested in doing training somewhere i would pick up the phone and give them a call.

If you are genuine and new to this, one thing you'll notice if you scan through various threads, the same people appear promoting or putting down various schools around the country which they are or have been involved with.

To be honest, opinions are opinions and at the end of the day, everyone is entitled to them, and if you search for other training schools you will find similar threads discussing the schools pro & cons. But to me what is an absoloute disgrace is that you would go on a public website and discuss another persons past history and discuss rumours which are in fact for the record - rubbish. Posting what you have (discretely) asked as a question could start a very big malicious rumour in a very small industry and I think that is one step too far. Just my opinion but turn it round in whatever industry you're in and think about the consequences it could have.

Pprune is a network to give people the chance to air their views and discuss topics, incidents and other forms of aviation and on a whole is very good for enthusiast to get involved. It was originally started as Professional pilot rumour network, and sometimes i wish it had stayed that way, as I wouldn't expect any professional to make such comments as you have.

Best of luck with whichever training school you go with

TT

All i have questioned is what was written on this thread, was that not the intended reason so as to judge if the school is suitable.
I am intending on spending alot of money on the next stage of my training once I complete my exams, hopefully in the next few months. I think I as anyone else has have every right to ask questions and respond to sections on this thread...several of which have now been removed.
What i find off putting is that people involved with the school are involved in this feud obviously between another or former instructor. I am guessing you to are involved.
I may still visit the school nearer the time and i will ask them in person my concerns. As for this thread well make your own mind up, its totally useless and undermining for the school. Especially when several people from the school are being named.
TT like i said why all the bitchiness on this thread, instead of trying to say that i am putting the school down read the thread and complain to the source of the bad points!! or offer me some advice on the school as originally requested.
I notice you too only just joined, why are you under an alias?

Thankyou TT for your advice in part. I intended calling the school as you advise but closer the time, once i have my results and an intended start date. However as i was only considering it i thought some advice would be possible on here. I have read several threads with good and bad points for individual schools but this thread is ridiculous with personal bittering going on between current and ex staff. People pretending to give advice when either staff or ex staff with issues. It does put me off a bit as i am sure you will understand.

Me personally ? I wouldn't attend this school for the reasons stated below:

1. Too expensive
2. Charge a joining fee for nothing
3. A/C are not very well equipped (Twin is tho)
4. Reception not very responsive for customer focused if you question fee's etc

I find this with a lot of schools actually

p.s. instructors are very good

Have you attended this school? or have any other experience on suitable trainers? PM me if you prefer
I was hoping to train in the NE, to spend some time with my "neglected" girlfriend whose family are up here. Are there any other FTO's in the area?

Thanks for the info....despite a small minority using this thread for a public slanging match!
Glad to see alot of the shamefull threads have been removed.
An ex instructor and current H.O.T should not be airing a personal feud on here. Not only is it very unprofessional but also unfair on people like myself who are wanting feedback on a possible FTO.

"I presume most of your last posting should have been addressed to Tommy as it seems he has become somewhat disgruntled between May and now. I do hope your explanation will pacify him a little but hopefully he knows that there are 2 other PPL training schools on the airfield should he wish to change training provider."

I really cant say anything bad about the school apart from when i was there it was difficult to get slots with instructors as the leeds guys where always booked in. Like i said when i did it was great tuition and the instructors are top noch. Now however it seems that they have it sorted and best of luck to them, I did look at the other schools and cleveland was the best thats why i spent my money there. Theres nothing rong with the aircraft and i never had a lesson cancelled due to one going tech. The receptionists are extremely helpfull all of the time and every member of staff is pleasent. Because of cleveland i have now been able to further my flying carrer and become one step closer to living the dream!
Good look with the school! :ok:

Hey you Guys = YOU GUYS!!

I am SA120 I do not get on PPrune too much as I am very very busy working at my job of being a pilot and LOCAL AVIATOR. I have not been keeping up to date with the tittle tattle being aired whether positive from my staff friends and colleaugues that know me and I know them or Negative from = EX disgruntled employees friends or colleagues, usually EX because they couldnt do the Job required of them during their time with our Companies. They now have far more time than me so hopefully to set the record straight anybody whether a true candidate wishing a tour visit and insight to our company or a disgruntled negativity well poisoning un successful moaner or simply my friends colleagues customers or strangers that share a common interest and enthusiast for aviation, I am always contactable and would welcome a visit at any time to sort out any problems or future strategies to help others. Of Course I can not state the companies I am connected with thats for you to investigate. But I am one of the BOSSES and the BOSSES know whats going on !! So come on be proffessional or brave any problems you may have get them sorted (GOLFDRIVER). Thanks for Reading I am a regularly around DTVA or Fishburn Airfield. Cheers C Mc. Whoops (SA120).:D

P.S The lack of a track record is the lack of Instructors that could perform in the past the proof is simply always in the pudding! Aviation is full of talkers.

Great fun!

Is there a Commercial Flight Training school based at Newcastle Airport?

If so I cant find any info on one, The NE seems to be lacking in this department.

No there is not any. The North East is very lacking in the area. The nearest would be Cleveland Flying school and then Leeds.

I believe there is someone doing instructor courses at Newcastle but thats about it.
