OK why the interest in me?
I`ve been cabin crew since 1988 and flown for 3 airlines including British Midland and Debonair.
I just post info I see as it may help other crew or wantabee crew.

euroboy :-)

yes, i admit it, i am a producer... except a different kind of producer than the one known to airline employees, those producers who make nasty tv programs or newspapers that say that all planes crash horribly and the crews are alcoholic philanderers...

i produce websites, which means that i do project management, do a little bit of html, talk to weird programmers who make brilliant stuff when you treat them nicely, go to meetings, answer e-mails, talk to marketing, sales, business development...

alas, i am no journalist with dark motives and the only reason why i ask all these questions and would like to tap into your professional knowledge is that i want to change career.

shall we dance - this invitation is also extended towards hostie1...:-)?

DON'T DO IT!!!!

Stay where you are, in a RESPECTED profession, cabin crew are regarded as little more than 'waiter/ess's in the sky

You'll regret it if you do

What can I say. cabin crew was brilliant but so was Ground crew. take it as it comes, learn from it and your life (certainly mine) will improve. I did the all lot and I am looking forward to work with u (crew) again. I know I will be regarded as somebody from the other side (the Dark, Boring, Predictible one) but don't assume anything. Check us out and find out how crap or nice we can be.

I agree with Xenia. If you are so unhappy why carry on in a job you don't like?
I can't wait to give up my flying job and go sit behind a desk from 9 to 5 and stare at somebody's dandruff typing stuff into a computer zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Hello all!!

Didn't say that was MY opinion, but it appears to be the opinion of the public in general. Whether or not you all want to admit it, that IS how we are perceived.

I was merely trying to get over to somebody that sometimes, it is better to command a little RESPECT for yourself, through your job, rather than give it up, and become one of us, then when you are sick of it, find you cannot return to your former life.

All further responses I look forward to

WCF!
I told you already that I suspect you are in the wrong airline. But your last posts make me think that you are also giving the people you are talking about a serious hand.
I believe that people respect professionnality. Don't degrade or underestimate yourself, because it will show.

WCF: true for all of us, we only get the respect we diserve. But if Trouble@the... fancies a change of career because he/she is bored or fed up with his/hers current position then this what I have to say: Do it ! There is nothing worst than having regrets specially when they come too late. Think it s worth it for your own accomplishment. While at BA, met this new entrant aged 51 on DOJ. She'd done many things before (incl raising a familly, running a restaurant,...) but she had always wanted to be a CC. Well, she made it and enjoys every single minute of it. Loved her attitude

Amex, you are so right! :)
We have a lot of more mature crew at my Co, who have mainly started in the job recently. To be honest they do make the best crew most of the time, as you say they have a great attitude.

I also agree, if you want to do it, go for it. Why have regrets later in life!! ;)

Happy flying all :)
