Aer Lingus Cabin Crew to have 24hrs stopage on the Wed 07th of Feb.

It was Oct last that Aer Lingus cabin went on 24 hrs strike over Low pay ,conditions and pensions scince then we have talked and talked nothing has happened .
Two week ago the Labour court came back with a recomadation that was to solve all of the above issues ,its was balloted by all IMPACT cabin crew members who were available and

Rejected by 98% of Cabin Crew,(1,140 balloted)

This recomdation would have ment ,

1)Cabin crew would have a 35 year pay scale reaching IRPŁ25,000 after 35 years services.

2)A worsing of their working conditions ,earlier starts after day off, later finishes before day off and coupling of flight's resctions to be removed.

3)And the introduction of a two tier system for Cabin crew ,which would mean that any cabin crew coming into the company in the future would be on worse conditions than existing cabin crew are on now .We work as a team how can we work as a team in the future if their are two set's set of rule's for that team.

We all stood together as cabin crew and said NO ,we have the power to change things if we stick together we are united and will not be divided no matter how hard the company tries to divided and conquer us .

On Wed the company was given 7 day notice of strike action and told that on Tue 6th that the day's for next week's strike will be notified to all.

The only thing that will settle our claim is a settlement to our satisfaction.
WE WANT to apologise for the distruption that will be caused by our 24hrs strike. We are women and men of all ages ,trying to raise families and pay rent and mortgages .We care about our passengers and our company, and we don't want to be on strike.

We're not asking for much.
We regret the disruption caused but we hope you will understand our position and continue to support us.
The Labour Court has asked us back in this Sun to try and reslove this issue ,it could have been resloved if they had given us a FAIR recomdation to us Two week ago.
Will keep you all updated .

Thanks for your time ,
airpoint.

Airpoint,

Good luck with your industrial action, I hope you get everything you want. It's good to see cabin crew standing up for themselves for a change. Most airlines seem to think that flying and visiting 'Far away places' (for 2hrs) justifies their poor pay and conditions. I do love the job and wouldn't like to do anything else, but I do have a private life and bills to pay. Some companies could do with this kind of wake up call.
